I’d had this idea for quite a while regarding one of my favourite bands The Only Ones. This song from their self titled album released in 1978 is one that’s stayed with me throughout my life.
It lasts a mere 2 minutes but is such a great song lyrically with Peter Perrett’s laconic vocals easing out the desperate message of the song. A message that cuts to the heart of anyone who has suffered from any addiction.
“And if I don’t say a word, you’ll know that it’s the truth”
Ezzie my ever willing model, captures that wide eyed, self deceiving innocence that ultimately fools nobody but herself.
