Ruinous Wedding

The last week has shot by without much really happening. We have been doing mucho admin with the recent Beach shoot processing and ordering of big acrylic prints.

On Friday we made the long and tiring journey down to the beautiful Cowdray ruins at Midhurst. Cam and Leah, the happy couple had booked the ruins in order to get hitched along with a number of their good friends and family.

Those of you that know, know that Weddings are totally not my thing but along with fellow friend Earl, we decided to grab some hot shots of the ceremony and stunning bride Leah.  The castle ruins made for a lovely backdrop and the gleaming red Ferrari didn’t look out of place against this stunning decay. Technically, this wasn’t the easiest of venues (are they ever?), as the contrast between the sky, the ever changing sun and the relatively small ‘room’ the ceremony took place in meant a huge dynamic range was needed.

I did the normal photographer thing of annoying guests by getting in the way and making too much noise during the ceremony itself but hopefully the outcomes will please both Leah and Cam! If I had been the official photographer then you couldn’t have wished for a more accommodating Registrar. She was very helpful and offered freedom galore during the vows even flash had we wanted (we didn’t).

After the ceremony we hot footed it back to Fontwell, trying to beat the Ferrari, we failed even though we were given quite a head start (well we did have to check in to our Hotel first!). We arrived as the Bride and Groom did and managed to grab a couple of shots out the front of the gorgeous country house that was to provide the venue for the Reception. In the beautiful gardens there was a newly erected marquee that was both modern and yet perfectly in keeping with the grounds of the house that boasted a swimming pool, squash court and grass tennis court.

The revelries that followed over the next two days were suitably decadent and much enjoyment and merriment was had by all. We returned yesterday, tired but happy and ready for more sleeeepp…………
